“电影最初由剧本衍生，再经由导演、摄影师及演员等多方面合作，才打造出扣人心弦的作品。”

        设计师将剧本的意念放入这项设计当中，他们将剧本归零，即重回文字的最基本出发——部首，部首是组成文字的根本，它们本身已隐含文字的部份意义，简单却具代表性，但并不像一个真正的文字般只有一个单一、独特的代表意思，因此令人更有想像空间。而且部首能够覆盖全部的文字，文字可以有成千上万个，但繁体字部首却只有二百多个，比起文字少很多倍，它们自由组合后，创造出人类史上所有流传多年的中国文字。

      文字可以给予读者无穷的想像空间，在脑海构想出自己的画面，这个设计就将那种抽象的意念，展现在电影院当中。不同的部首在场内的天花及牆身穿梭，设计以白色为主，入口大堂已经可以看到这些部首活跃眼前。立体的字型充满动感，天花的部首在头顶上飞来飞去，原来它们是用金属棒以不同的角度营造出来的，不同的大小、方向跟角度，增强视觉上的多样性。牆身则是平面，用不同的部首逐个堆砌而成，可看到充满层次感的排列。地板是金属镶线及深啡色洗石米组成的部首，但它将多个部首重叠而造成独特的图案线条。

        售票处的檯由几层长形条状物叠成，仿傚天花垂钓的感觉，但就更见简约。售票处及小卖部的指示则以英文显示，採用了霓虹灯光管，其形态巧妙地与整体设计相融，却又能在背景之中突围而出。场内的长櫈侧面望亦是立体，同样由部首组成，与主题呼应。

        走廊灯光则用了大射灯，射落用白色条状线框组成的部首上，投射出来的影子令空间感更丰富，整体用的颜色不多，牆身及地下同样是啡色，牆身的金属板营造出生鏽的效果，天花则涂上啡色油漆，用料并不複杂，却突出了部首的形态。

       今次戏院的概念有别于用普通的文字，反而用部首的意念，以不同的形态在场内纵横，令观众进入各自的幻想世界，创造出属于他们的剧本。

Movies derived from scripts. A script is the first step of making a movie. With the collaboration of director, actors and editors, the ending product then could be displayed in front of the audience. The designers inject the script element into this project by planting words throughout the perimeter. But instead of using ordinary Chinese characters, they pick up the smallest element of the characters – Chinese radicals.

Chinese radicals are the basic roots to form a Chinese character. Unlike Chinese characters, Chinese radicals do not have one specific meaning only, they could combine freely to form various Chinese characters. There are millions of existing Chinese characters, yet only over 200 Chinese radicals. Having no specific and one single meaning, Chinese radicals are better tools to express various meanings of Chinese characters with deeper associations.

The designers visualize the abstract imagination and bring it into this project. Various white Chinese radicals glide through the ceilings and walls. At the entrance lobby, the radicals are being presented in a three dimensional format. They are energetic and dynamic, flying above the head of the audiences. They are made by metal poles being bent into different angles. Assorted shapes, sizes and angles show a great mix of diversities, dazzling the audiences. Various layers of radicals decorate the wall, scattered randomly yet organized. Metal wires and dark brown stones construct the terrazzo pattern, resonating with the theme.

Long rectangular boxes stagger on top of one another to build the ticketing office table, resembling the inverted design on the ceiling. The signs of the concession and ticketing office are displayed in English. In order to stand out from the background, neon lights are being used. They blend in harmony with the entire area. Long benches are built with radicals. When look from the side, radicals pop out robustly.

Big spot lights project upon the corridor. They lighten up on the white wire frame radicals, casting shadows around the corridor; add a hint of abundant and voluminous. Brown metal plates on the wall create a rusting feeling. Simple combinations of colors reinforce the forms of the radicals.

Radical designs keep running through the auditorium. Slides of brown and grey sound-absorbing panels build up the radicals on the wall; carry on the dynamic design at the entrance lobby. Radicals pattern carpet and randomly arranged chairs enhance interior opulence. White metal tubes conjoin English alphabets ‘lavatory’ in front of the mirror. White and deep brown specially designed poles decorate the compartments. 

With the radicals floating around the interior, audiences would be able to enter their own imaginary worlds, and write their own scripts.
