近日，英国景观行业协会（British Association of Landscape Industries，简称BALI）公布了2018年度国家景观奖（BALINational Landscape Awards）的获奖名单。湖南常德老西门一期项目荣获本届的国际奖（International Awards）。    

The standard of the entries submitted this year has been phenomenal. The adjudicators spent three long days here at Landscape House reviewing all the entries and ultimately agreeing the winners in each category. As a winner in the International Award category you have demonstrated exemplary standards of professional excellence which is a tremendous achievement. The purpose of the BALI Awards is two-fold: firstly, to encourage our members to continually strive for excellence and, once achieved, have that achievement recognised by the wider industry; and secondly, to promote beyond the industry the outstanding work undertaken by BALI member’s year on year. 老西门项目位于湖南省常德市中心城区，临武陵阁广场。易兰设计团队与建筑师一道通过对历史基地和人文遗存的恢复及改造。运用现代建造技术手段，融入艺术、文化、自然三大核心元素。通过一系列城市更新的手法，将原有破败的城市街区，演变成一个现代时尚的新商业街。为广大市民呈献出一个具有历史意义和社会价值的城市公共空间。

The project, together with a canal canal-water system cleaning effort, transformed 6.4 acres of a forgotten part of the old town, littered with structurally-unsafe buildings,into a green,culturally-rich urban green space,and popular waterfront district.Laoximen(meaning Old West Gate)sets a precedent and benchmark for urban renewal,oreclaiming its a historical canal and the adjacent streets for new use. The project promotes the timely principles of urban regeneration, adaptive re-use,historical preservation, and ecological sustainability,whilst avoiding the oft-practiced trend practice in China of demolition and radical reconstruction.

通过综合的设计手段，昔日被人遗忘的老西门转变为护城河畔的记忆画卷与街巷生活。设计团队通过梳理记忆脉络和构建景观体系，恢复护城河，利用本地材料与老旧物件，承载本土生活使老西门重获新生，在城市更新中延续记忆。通过营造新的生活空间吸引了更多的人到此游览，如今已成为常德时尚新地标。

历史记忆的延续

常德古称武陵，西门一带曾是常德的政治文化中心，衙门、王府、文庙、书院无不见证其昔日的繁华。然而古城历经过数次劫难，被毁于战乱，古城墙在抗战中已大部分被拆毁，全城亦几乎夷为平地。老西门地块的中间沿纵深方向，原来有一条护城河。80年代被盖上护盖板，改成排污渠。地面以上则随时间自由堆积而成一条狭窄街巷，以及简易木结构穿斗建筑形成的棚户。

老西门一带曾是常德市的政治文化中心，承载着丰富的历史信息。始建于明初的矮城墙遗址、位于火神庙对面的丹砂井都是老西门历史记忆的延续。易兰设计团队在方案设计之初对场地中丰富的历史文化和人文遗存进行了梳理。根据不同的场地功能及文化资源，串联出老西门层次丰富的景观体系。

The project promotes the timelyprinciples of urban regeneration, adaptive re-use, historic preservation, andecological sustainability, whilst avoiding the trend practice in China ofdemolition and radical reconstruction.

After 100 years of tumultuous history, including WWII and the CulturalRevolution, the project’s goal was to rejuvenate the site as a modernmetropolis, maintaining links with its history through design and preservationof on-site materials. Innovation and preservation come together to establish anurban core and waterfront corridor for people, plants and wildlife. In additionto providing valuable open space, Laoximen has become an economic generator forthe neighborhood, attracting investment toward new retail, commercial, andresidential development. 

葫芦口广场

设计团队通过对于历史基址和人文遗存的保护性开发及创作打造，着重把护城河的疏浚恢复、海绵城市建设和老西门文脉的接续相结合，依托护城河对常德特色建筑和人文印记进行了一次梳理，使穿梭其间的人们能够真切感受到时空的变迁和文化的映射。

葫芦口广场轮廓与场地精神结合，风格与材质成为体现建筑厚度的最佳手段。此地巷深逼仄，腹广而阔，形似葫芦，故名“葫芦口”。设计团队利用护城河水面与葫芦口广场路面之间的4米高差，以错落的青石台阶相衔接，形成了一个有围合感的下沉广场，周边的商业建筑亦呈围合状，雨水由环形坡屋顶落到地面，犹如四水归堂的情景再现。

为人们创造出亲水的机会，形成丰富的空间效果。石头瀑布和植物与现代水景巧妙地交织在一起，郁郁葱葱的种植空间，粗凿的石阶和梯田交错形成了一个现代空间，将古代和现代的设计美学联系在一起。

The grading, elevation, levee, and planting were designed to withstand the storms and flooding common to the area. The amphitheater and planting can endure full submersion in the event of a flood.The stone waterfall and plants juxtaposed against a modern waterscape sensitively thread together the ancient and modern design aesthetic.Lush planting pockets, rough-hewn stone steps, and terraces are interlaced to form a contemporary space, which still evokes a sense of the local history.

市民的舞台

葫芦口对面醉月楼的檐口下，是当地民俗戏曲表演或品牌推演展示的舞台，而葫芦口层层叠叠的石头台阶，成为天然的观众席。每天定时工作的喷雾设施，营造出的梦幻场景与水中诗意。

形台阶逐层跌落，与涌动的水幕、花池、植被、小舟、树阵相得益彰，成为最聚人气、最富情趣的去处。白天可以坐在树下喝咖啡、听音乐，晚上河畔的蛙鸣和民谣将人们带进最文艺、最时尚的新常德。这里是真正意义的城市客厅，崭新的老地方续写着城市与人的记忆。

护城河恢复

常德护城河有着两千多年的历史，几乎与常德城同龄，常德的很多故事都和护城河有关，比如刘海砍樵、仙人赐丹以及常德会战等等。改造之前的护城河污水横流，棚户遮盖。恢复与疏浚之后，池壁种植、水生植物、青石步阶、小河流水、古井老树……亲近而质朴。和缓怡情的步道、四季转换的植物风景、质朴灰调的回迁楼、琳琅满目的水街铺面将生活拉回地面，丰富多元的空间形态，回应人们对生活的渴望。

护城河又回到了老西门，这不仅仅是城市记忆延续与生活回归的一笔，更是常德海绵城市建设的重要一笔，彰显了文化与生态的双重复兴。

老西门曾经是一个被城市遗忘的片区，经过设计师对当地历史形态与传统文化的保留，并赋予其新的功能业态，老街区的记忆得以延续。这是一次历史与现在的精彩对话，更是一个老旧街区的涅槃重生。除了地理空间未来的梳理，建议挖掘老西门原有的商业及生活特色，保存几处原有的商户和生活场景。让原有的生活记忆得以延续，呈现不同的都市脉搏，历史文化及商业交融的独特氛围，让人于繁忙都市中心慢享美好时光。

老西门成为常德时尚新地标，它记录了中国城市化和意识形态的历史变迁。这种新的城市改革旨在融合过去，将其与当代设计思想结合在一起。绝无仅有的常德老街原貌，趣味盎然的各色时尚小店，构成了老西门独特的魅力与风情。如今的老西门，商业兴盛，市场繁荣，这似乎吸引了更多的人到此游览，同时也推进着老西门永不停息、沧海桑田般的时代变迁！
